Nice looking 'van Matty.
From the stats do I understand that this is almost too heavy for the S-Max?

Hi Paul,
Yeah its a lovely van.... you would need a 2.2TDCi to tow it really, although someone on here tows a one thats slightly heavier with a 2.0TDCi it would be over the 85% match though.
90% match with the 2.2TDCi S-max
93% match with the 2.0TDCi S-max
its still under 100% so still legal, but only experienced caravanners should tow over 85% (we have towed up to 90% before.)
S-max has a maximum tow weight of 1750kg for the 2.0TDCi and 1800kg for the 2.2TDCi.
Hope this helps.
The following website is good for outfit matching:
http://www.whattowcar.com/index.php
Using the MTPLM for the van and with a 2.0 TDCi in standard running order the match is 93%. For an experienced tower that should be okay. In practise the best thing is to put the heavy stuff in the car (awning etc) and try to keep the van closer to its MIRO figure. Perhaps a 2.2 would be better for an extra margin of power but at least with it being a twin axle it should be super stable even at speed. :busted:
Just don't expect too many mpg.
Ooops...sorry Matty, you beat me to it.

Might be worth putting this little bit of info in the Towing section.
Ohh and do like your Caravan Matty. Shame you having to sell it. I do like the Baileys though, the wheeled ones and the Irish cream . Was looking at the Rangers a while back, their weight more suited to my 1.8.
Good luck with the selling

Hi there,
We love our Bailey and will be incredibley sorry to see it go, we also looked at the Rangers too before buying our previous caravan. They are very well built (factory is in Bristol).

Matthew
