View Full Version : New forum upgrade
As you can now see we have upgraded the forum software.
The homepage is not much to look at at the moment but the nicey bits need work but the forum is working fine.
We now also have blogs, dont know how you use these yet but play at your hearts consent.
I hope you like it.
Lee
Just so you know the main .co.uk homepage has a slight issue at the moment but we have put the forums live and will fix that soon.

ah, we're back up n running, yay!!!!
where's the smilies???? ah there, have to go advanced :grinning:
Good to see things back up and running:grinning:
Can we have some more smilies please that use the standard shortcuts.
When you press reply, if you go advanced instead of quick reply the smilies are there
When I click on the 'Home' button at the top, it states that I don't have permission to access that page.
Zetec,
We'll alter "permissions" and sort this out.
Paul.

New site look good... but as a mark of patriotism as this is smaxownersclub.co.uk lets have an option to change the language settings from English (US) to the proper English language.... English (UK)!!!!!!!
As Vbulletin is american its not an option
is it me or is it difficult to see which are new posts, i find the shading hard to distinguish...nice to be back btw, thanks lee.
The new software is still in its infancy, upgrades etc will be available and new styles soon hopefully.
Also homepage issue now sorted
i've noticed that there is only the default style available ...it'll be nice to customize the page.

Why was my post limited to (can't remember exactly) but about 1000 characters, I've just looked at Jim's post re:S-Max at Brussels Motor Show and that looks more than 1000 characters?
Oooh, we're back .... this is going to take a while to get used to, me thinks?

Will be available a Garage / Gallery section anytime?
There's the option to add "Albums" in your Profile ... have a look in "My Profile", top right of the screen.

Thanks Russel, I've found it.
Is there a limit (size, number, etc.) for the pics to be uploaded?
Good to see the Forum back!
Only just found out what all the buttons on the old one did.
Back to school time.
:boxed:
Well I have a good look around, and the site seems to have lost it identity... where is the banner?
Hope it is one of the up and coming upgrades, this looks just like all the other forums now, more personalisation required!

anyone else think the colous are too similar???
people's sigs look like part of there posts!!! not monaing though of course!
There are still things to do, the forum was put live so you guys could use it, rather than keeping it offline until all the other things are done.
The upgrade was a necessesity for security updates not just a nice to have.
If i left it offline until all the little things are done it would probably be off for a week, so some things you just have to live with for now.
Its easy to critisise if your not the one doing all the work, just be glad its back online as quick as it was.

 Lee, It wasn't meant as criticism, just an observation. we all know something like this take a lot of work :zip:
:yes:It's good to be back! Missed you all!
Just found the "Blog feature"....... rubs hands.............. now that is CLASS!
hello everyone - good to be back online
Thanks Russel, I've found it.

I think you can load 5 images at a time, although if uploading from your Computer, it's a bit of a pain to work out HOW to do so.
I've entered some images in my Album for my 2.5T, so you can at least see the size of the images.
"New Posts" = tool bar, top left, Stan.
saw this russel, thanks..but still like the icons to be more distinguishable...

It's new to all of us, Stan. In time, especially with the SMAXOC header/logos in place, it'll feel more like home. :grouphug:

This looks good something new to play with hello all
can we have polls on this new forum?
yea we can have polls, checks and other nationality's jason....
Great work Lee & co - really appreciate the effort you put in to the site.
Nice coincidence having the new-look forum ready to announce the new-look S-max.
(e.g. a few new shiny bits but otherwise the great same content!)
Cheers.
Just a quickie; trying to seach for postings made pre-shift to latest forum and they are not being found using the search tool. Any ideas please?
There does appear to be an issue with the search feature. Hopefully this issue will be ironed out soon.

I thought it was my wifi playing up at home again. Pleased it wasn't, but ....
Search me, I don't know
...I thought we were on a new server as we took up too much space elsehwhere? Wouldn't the move also mean less downtime/offline moments?
I'd search you Paul, but the search feature isn't working

also with pm's......have sent a few but no replies (ok could be being ignored) are people getting notifications via email or a pop up like last forum?

why can't the site remember me being logged in?
doesn't it set a cookie?
used to work in the old version :-(
this is in safari mac
firefox windows
chrome mac/windows
just a bit annoying
No problems here. Keeps me logged in till I tell it otherwise. Are you ticking the remember me box?
I have no problem with this despite using Windows 7/OS X 10.5.8/Linux Mint 8 all running Firefox or Chrome
I have no issues with staying logged in on Safari on Snow Leopard, and Firefox on Vista and XP.

Couldn't find posts, which I know definitely exist, when searching for "ashtray" or "dash".....
Lee & I are in the hands of Jamie, who seems not to be returning Lee's calls at present.
Emails are one the problems the site is still having. I'm not getting notifications either.
+1
any sign of a fix in the offing?
Apart from that I like the new look of the site.
Jamie told me that he's taking a look at our settings tonight, or tomorrow afternoon.
I have my fingers crossed.

the answer might be in here somewhere...but with the glirches they are addressing is one of them e-mail notification when someone adds to a thread you have subscribed to as such as I am missing some of the replies and probably getting less response from people when I am replying.
cheers
