In (semi) seriousness, I'm assuming that the forums are hosted on a 'pay' server rather than a freebie. In which case, it is their responsibility to backup up data, even weekly, and be able to restore it in the event of a failure as outlined in their service level agreement (SLA) or contract.
Lee / Paul / whoever - I would seriously question the ISP on their contractual SLA's as even for my 'cheapie' hosting for my Scout website, I have weekly backups taken by the ISP with an estimated restore of 48-72 hours.
Just a thought.
