lol - I think you'll find that as this is a family site they won't and I think I agree with that. Is Citroen still going through?

(Edit - apparently so ;-)

I'm not switching it off, for very obvious reasons.

I recently had complaints when one member used the word r.a.p.e. in a context that seemed appropriate.

The reasoning is that the site is clearly not adults only & therefore it is sensible to prevent certain words from being used.

I'm no Saint, but I quite like not seeing "f-this" and "f-that" all over the message boards, it's more of an intellectual challenge to the writer to express him/her self in a more constructive, or clever, form of grammar.

There's a very easy way of adding & subtracting words, as we proved by use of Citroen. It's a shame that we cannot get this software to substitute words, again we adjusted Citroen to read "Ugly French Car" in the past. Problem is I personally quite like the new DS3, it's on my list of cars to test drive later in the year.

Surely as a site for S-Max Owners we are all adults?

I don't object to pure and simple swearing being censored but when it's picking up on parts of words it's just annoying, can that bit be turned off?

It's also annoying that there's no consistency, the word pri.ck is censored but not #### or #### for example!

it will be now ......

The software does not filter words individually, just the letters I type in, hence why S####horpe gets 'edited'.

Not my fault, blame the software writers.

Now the *'s have changed to #'s....

You can do it just need to add {} around banned words. So people from S####horpe won't be filtered out but anyone types #### will still be #.

Well I never.

Where did you find that out, Alan?

The {} tip is very handy. Although I'm sure I tried to use the word grape earlier and it censored it but now it isn't!

The {} only applies to settings in the swear filter not actually posting. I've changed a few settings so hopefully we won't get words like grape edited.
