I think the standard bumper is moulded that colour as when I drilled a hole in mine it was the same colour plastic all the way through.

^^^

If the bumper's not colour coded (painted), then they're all the same colour base dark grey plastic

russell, ford told me the one they supply would be in primer ready to be painted and then told me the grey spray for mine would cost about £20 a can.... ...

I don't think it is, Stan
I've just removed the rear towing eye cover from my wife's Sea(l) Grey car to check.
They're not painted, but are the same colour plastic as the bumper, as I posted before.
If I were to lose my rear towing eye, it would need to be painted, but only as my rear bumper's colour coded.

so maybe the primer ones are the normal grey colour and then they need to be painted to become colour coded...

I think your dealer gave you a generic answer because he didn't know the correct answer.

I imagine that they're the same but someone bumped me from behind in my C-Max when were living in Somerset and the only damage was to the towing hook cover. It transpiers that the lugs had broken but I didn't realise until one day I noticed a hole, where the cover used to be!

Ford Morecambe quoted me £120 to order, prep and paint it. A trip to a breakers found a grey one (free) and then to motor mania for primer, paint and metallic laquer for £40, and then to the parents to do the work, and found the original on the freaking driveway! Back to MotorMania who very kindly refunded me the lot, and a bit of superglue and Robert has become your father's brother!
