Seems Ford are struggling to shift even the blinged up 240ps versions, even though they are dripping with kit, a hoot to drive and return 30mpg in sensible driving. For example:

*#FORD S-MAX Titanium X Sport £19,750

Registration EN60AUP
Mileage 2,527 miles
Engine 2,000 cc
Fuel type Petrol
Transmission Automatic
Drive 2 Wheel Drive
Bodystyle 5-door Estate
Exterior colour MIDNIGHT SKY MET
Interior Colour/Trim ALCANTARA C/L EBONY
Service history Yes
MOT expiry date 02/02/2014
Features -

I think that one has keyless entry and space pack too. Less than 6 months old, barely run in, 37% off list.

If you don't get that price when you search using your postcode, your local dealer is slapping on too much margin. Try LE2 6BW, i.e. Sandicliffe Ford, which is where I got my latest one from.

Hope this helps somebody out....

I was talking to a dealer about new car sales recently, in particular the S-Max. They have cut dealer margins, removed promotions and offering delivery times of up to 6 months. No wonder they are struggling with Ford Direct cars at those prices!

Very tempting - but I might be changing job & if I do I will be switching to a company car due to commuting distances.

Shame really.

That sounds better then the ford employers way?

I just told the wife and she liked the tractor over the petrol

The car morellomax refers to is another £250 cheaper again if you use a Birmingham postcode. The differences in prices for Ford Direct Diesel and Petrol Titanium X Sports are surprisingly large. The 2.2 diesel and 2.0 240ps petrol have similar new list prices but equivalent spec low mileage 2.2 diesels (all silver) are going for around £5.5k to £6k more. Some serious petrol bargains to be had on there.

Cheers

Well spotted: B67 5EZ certainly works, which is Bristol Street - Hagley Road. The dealer margin isn't car-specific, so once you've found the cheapest postcode for a particular car, it should work for all other cars....

p.s. The 2.2 diesels on Ford Direct have actually gone UP in price by about £2k in the last few weeks: the April 2011 reg'd ones were just over £24k, now just over £26k. Weird....
