BEWARE ALL MANCUNIANS!!

I asked for a quote and received an email from Chris Knott saying they do not offer insurance to postcodes beginning 'M' ... so that's the whole of Manchester out!!
I guess if you strike whole cities off your portfolio it's one way of lowering premiums.

Insurance companies that do that stoop to a very low place!

SMOC STAFF take note: I don't know what kind of deal they have with SMOC... but they have no business on this site unless they can represent the whole of the UK

Actually we can quote M postcodes but as with other high risk areas of the country there are overnight parking requirements such as off-road, driveway, garage, etc for certain areas. You'll find that all insurers quote based on their claims experience and claims frequency in an area - in riskier areas they'll price heavily, sometimes they'll decline cover altogether. Under our club scheme, the insurers' parking requirements for an M area are determined by the part of the postcode after the space, so it's not a blanket exclusion. The exclusion only applies to the really risky sectors within M.

I'll check the wording of our email to make sure it reflects this going forwards.

UPDATE: Apologies, it was a typo on the email. My colleague put 'the M postcode' but she meant 'your M postcode'. I understand the car is parked on a driveway overnight but at your postcode that still isn't enough I'm afraid.

I've lived at that postcode for 25 years, each year I have taken out car insurance and never had car insurance issues.. ever! ... Nor have my neighbours.
Your company is the first to refuse me insurance. On the balance of probability, that says more about Chris Knott insurance than the insurance industry as a whole.
