Email Addresses and Registration

I've had a few emails recently asking me why registration has failed.

The answer is a simple one, that is we have had to ban the use of certain email domains such as hotmail.com.

The reason is simple. The spamming community favour these domains and we see them time and time and time again. We can normally spot a spammer at a 1,000 paces as the email address usually looks something like asdfgt6ghrt@yahoo.com

So to save us all our precious, personal time we've banned the obvious domains but this does mean that a small handful of legit users get tarred with the same brush. Our apologies if that's you dear reader, but we aren't changing our policy any time soon so as to open the floodgates to the spamming community.

There are some very simple ways around this problem. Use a "proper" email domain and don't call yourself something weird such as "gethgdnh7dhhe". If nothing else you'll forget it and then ask us to remind you of your screen name!

Hope this helps the tiny minority that get affected.
